I’m a part-time business lawyer and lifestyle photographer living in Portland, Oregon. I’ve been an avid thrift shopper since I was 15 years old and I love all things vintage, red and polka dotted. I’ve got two beautiful, sassy daughters, two tiny, ridiculous dogs, and one incredibly patient and supportive husband. I count myself very, very lucky.
I learned about photography at a very young age from my dad (a journalist and an expert people watcher). I took a long hiatus from the camera in my 20s, not really picking it up again until I become a mama. Even then, I considered myself a hobbyist as I focused on motherhood and my legal career. While working full time as a lawyer, I started desperately searching for a creative outlet to balance out an intense, intellectual day job. I began dabbling in all sorts of crafts: sewing, felting, painting, jewelry making, etc. Nothing really connected with me, though, and my favorite part of the exploration was taking photos of the process and then blogging about what I had made. So we invested in our first DSLR and I started carrying it around with me everywhere. The rest, as they say, is history.
I’m all about capturing the real moments, the in-between moments, the little kindnesses and details that often get overlooked in our crazy, busy lives. I love connecting with people away from the computer, IN REAL LIFE, to find out who they are, what they love, and what makes them unique. I personally hate having my photo taken, so I strive to make the experience comfortable for everyone. My goal with every session is for my client to walk away with images that fill them with joy.
When I’m not counseling businesses or working on a session, I love to hang out and play with my family, take small adventures in my beautiful state, meet friends for a beer, and shoot film (35mm, 120mm, and instant {polaroid and instax}). I coordinate our neighborhood school’s annual art and craft fair, sit on the advisory board for the Alley 33 Fashion Event and the board of directors of Art4Life, coach middle school volleyball, and show my work in various venues.
I primarily focus on portrait sessions but I enjoy shooting families, pets and the occasional wedding and event in Portland and beyond. Drop me a line if you are interested in finding out more. I’d love to hear from you!
