about me

I’m a part-time busi­ness lawyer and lifestyle pho­tog­ra­pher liv­ing in Port­land, Ore­gon. I’ve been an avid thrift shop­per since I was 15 years old and I love all things vin­tage, red and polka dot­ted. I’ve got two beau­ti­ful, sassy daugh­ters, two tiny, ridicu­lous dogs, and one incred­i­bly patient and sup­port­ive hus­band. I count myself very, very lucky.

I learned about pho­tog­ra­phy at a very young age from my dad (a jour­nal­ist and an expert peo­ple watcher). I took a long hia­tus from the cam­era in my 20s, not really pick­ing it up again until I become a mama. Even then, I con­sid­ered myself a hob­by­ist as I focused on moth­er­hood and my legal career. While work­ing full time as a lawyer, I started des­per­ately search­ing for a cre­ative out­let to bal­ance out an intense, intel­lec­tual day job. I began dab­bling in all sorts of crafts: sewing, felt­ing, painting, jewelry mak­ing, etc. Noth­ing really con­nected with me, though, and my favorite part of the explo­ration was tak­ing pho­tos of the process and then blog­ging about what I had made. So we invested in our first DSLR and I started car­ry­ing it around with me every­where. The rest, as they say, is history.

I’m all about cap­tur­ing the real moments, the in-between moments, the lit­tle kind­nesses and details that often get over­looked in our crazy, busy lives. I love con­nect­ing with peo­ple away from the com­puter, IN REAL LIFE, to find out who they are, what they love, and what makes them unique. I per­son­ally hate hav­ing my photo taken, so I strive to make the expe­ri­ence com­fort­able for every­one. My goal with every ses­sion is for my client to walk away with images that fill them with joy.

When I’m not coun­sel­ing busi­nesses or work­ing on a ses­sion, I love to hang out and play with my fam­ily, take small adven­tures in my beau­ti­ful state, meet friends for a beer, and shoot film (35mm, 120mm, and instant {polaroid and instax}). I coor­di­nate our neigh­bor­hood school’s annual art and craft fair, sit on the advi­sory board for the Alley 33 Fash­ion Event and the board of direc­tors of Art4Life, coach mid­dle school vol­ley­ball, and show my work in var­i­ous venues.

I pri­mar­ily focus on por­trait ses­sions but I enjoy shoot­ing fam­i­lies, pets and the occa­sional wed­ding and event in Port­land and beyond. Drop me a line if you are inter­ested in find­ing out more. I’d love to hear from you!
